Registration FAQ

9th Grade Registration

Questions/answers will be updated as they are asked using this Google Form

Can my student fit ROTC and a sport into their schedule?

Yes. A 9th grade student is required to enroll in six courses, including English, Math, Science, PE, Health, and an Elective (World Language).

Sports, ROTC, and a few other courses qualify as a PE credit, meaning they will not have to enroll in a PE course as well. Sports are mostly held during 7th period, not impacting the six period day. In this situation, the student can do both ROTC and a sport.

On the yellow registration form, there are two columns for Algebra 1, English, Biology, etc. Are these all year long courses?  Should we choose Algebra 1, etc. in both columns?

Most courses that are offered at RHS are year long classes. All of the courses listed in the question above are year long. There are two course numbers, relating to the fall and spring semesters. When the Aeries portal is open students should input both course numbers, so they will be enrolled in both the fall and spring semester.

Where do we hand in the Athletics form we received last night?

Sinaloa students should bring the hard copies of the registration worksheet and the sports interest form to their History classes on April 5th and 6th.

If my son takes the health class online through BYU, can he sign up for an extra year long elective next year?

Many students choose to take Health over the summer to allow for an extra elective, i.e. AP Human Geography, in their ninth grade year. BYU is one option to do this. The Simi Valley Summer Schoolsoffers Health over the summer as well.

I see in a course catalog "Athletic Injury". It says it is offered to students in 9th -12th grade. Can my son take this course as an elective in his freshman year?

Yes. But students in the upper grades are given priority to this course. It is recommended that a student has taken IB Sports Medicine and/or Anatomy prior to taking Athletic Injury.
